Take your time to explore the many secrets of the Carnarvon Ranges with long walks deep into the remote and protected world of Wallaroo private property with its incredible diversity of flora, fauna and Indigenous sites. Join us as we tread lightly across country through the Lonesome section of Expedition National Park to see the incredible Candlesticks and, on another day, follow the renowned walking path in Carnarvon National Park.
In this diverse wilderness deep in the Carnarvons, you’ll see nature at its undisturbed best and have plenty of time to appreciate the small miracles as well as the breathtaking vistas.
Your ecologist guide will reveal timeless wonders including spectacular sandstone rock formations, cycad groves, Indigenous sites with rock art. You’ll be awed by the incredible biodiversity from overlooked treasures of the micro world to prehistoric plants and rare fauna. A night walk reveals another aspect with the mysterious world of nocturnal creatures.
With three nights at Wallaroo Outback Retreat, the bush becomes your habitat. It’s a great place to chat around the campfire, listen for night creatures, share stories and watch the stars track across the sky. You will feel the spirit of the Australian bush and embrace it with a new level of wonder and understanding.
This tour starts with a night in Roma with a 3pm pick-up from your accommodation for a stroll in the Bush Gardens and shared dinner so we can get to know each other. Next morning we transfer to Wallaroo where you’ll enjoy the best of all worlds: remoteness, unique bush and amazing scenery but with the comfort of a glamping bush retreat to unwind and sleep in luxury on real beds.

Intermediate (Walking Grade 4 - Moderate). A walking pace of 3-4 kilometres per hour.

The tour starts from Roma, Queensland, and includes transfers to our base camp at the Wallaroo Outback Retreat, a 1.75 hour drive north in the Carnarvon Ranges.
